Father – Son: Rite of Passage Camp

A Christ-Centered Wilderness Journey for Fathers & Sons

You are the most valuable person in your son’s life. Your beliefs, your actions, your faith and your character, will all be part of the ingredients that will shape who your son will become. He looks to you to model all relationships in his life, and through that he will learn about success, trust, faith, and integrity through his experiences and interactions with you.

At Sons of Men Rite of Passage Camps, we equip fathers and sons (ages 7–13) to embrace their God-designed identities through biblically rooted wilderness experiences located in the Blue Ridge Mountains in Suches, GA. Join us May 2-4, 2025.

So, step out of the broken world that we live in, and step into surrender, step into a unique experience where God will guide and unite his spirit within you, with the spirit of your son. Grow in strength, grow in love, grow in faith.

Join us for this special profound weekend, that will be unforgettable and truly transformational!

Anchored in Divine Design

Every boy’s worth flows from Christ’s redemption, not worldly achievements. “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you” (Jeremiah 1:5).

Equipping your son for spiritual warfare

Equipping for Faith Warfare

Biblical manhood requires intentional, habitual courage. “Faith without works is dead” (James 2:26).

Multiply impact

Multiplying Eternal Impact

Godly legacies thrive in community. “As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another” (Proverbs 27:17).

The Crisis of Modern Boyhood: Why Fathers Matter More Than Ever

Boys today navigate a world hostile to their innate design. Confined to desks for 6+ hours daily, overstimulated by screens averaging 7 hours of use, and deprived of rites of passage, young males face unprecedented identity struggles. Studies show 68% of boys report feeling“purposeless” by age 12, while ADHD diagnoses have tripled since 1997. Fathers, called by God to be primary discipleship leaders (Deuteronomy 6:6–7), often lack tools to counter these cultural currents.

Our research reveals three critical gaps:

Physical Suppression: Schools restrict movement essential for male cognitive development

Spiritual Ambiguity: 62% of Christian boys cannot articulate biblical manhood

Relational Distance: Father-son quality time averages 35 minutes/week

The Rites

Rites signify transformation. They have been valued throughout time and cultures as a way to honor the profound change that happens inside of us as we journey from childhood into adulthood. Even in adulthood, a rite of passage, marks our own transformation, our maturing towards a relationship with Christ.

The rite of passage is a transformational moment can be simple; it can be physically or emotionally challenging, but always marks a profound change.

map and compass

Land Navigation

Learn map and compass skills with your son, finding waypoints in the Blue Ridge Mountains. Work together, with intention, competing against other father and son duos to capture as many waypoints as possible.

Learn traps and snares

Bushcrafting

Upon arrival you and your son will be responsible for building your shelter, securing it against the wind and potential water infiltration. Learn to build animal traps and snares from nothing more than what the forest provides.

Challenge Course

Challenge Course

Fathers will encourage their sons in a race against time where they will complete over a dozen obstacles that include water crossings, tests of strength, and leveraging teamwork which will expand the limits of your son's mind.

Our Aim:

Strengthen Father-Son Bonds: Create sacred spaces for fathers and sons to connect deeply, reflecting the love of God the Father.

Reflect the Heavenly Relationship: Illuminate how earthly father-son relationships mirror the divine connection between God the Father and His children.

Guide Through Transformation: Lead participants through surrender, breaking down worldly barriers, building up in faith, and claiming victory in Christ.

Be Rooted in Scripture: Ground teachings and activities in Malachi 4:6: “He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers.”

Establish a Rite of Passage: Provide a meaningful, Christ-centered path to manhood through ceremonial and practical experiences.

Empower Fathers: Equip fathers with confidence, wisdom, and the strength to embrace their God-ordained responsibilities with grace and accountability.

Foster Accountability: Promote accountability and discipline in daily life, both in the physical world and in spiritual growth, ensuring integrity before God and others.

Encourage Biblical Leadership: Inspire men to embody the five principles of Biblical leadership—faithfulness, humility, service, courage, and love—as demonstrated in Scripture.
